USING EXFOLIATORS TO GET GLOWING SKIN
WHO DOESN’T WANT GLOWING SKIN?
We all dream for flawless, glowing skin, but it can be confusing to know which products to use to achieve your dream result. Two products that are renowned for giving you the glow factor are mechanical exfoliators and chemical peels… but what are their benefits and how do we know when we need to use them?!
‘Did you know by exfoliating the skin weekly, this will boost the effectiveness of your other skincare’ – Laura Miles, Decléor Skin Expert.
WHAT IS A MECHANICAL EXFOLIATOR?
The mechanical exfoliation technique has been used since the Ancient Egyptians and we are still using this technique today when we use scrubs to exfoliate! This involves using textured exfoliating particles to buff away all the dead skins cells on the surface of the skin to reveal a brighter complexion, as well as smoother feeling skin. As you massage the scrub on to your skin in circular motions, you increase the blood circulation, leaving your skin feeling reenergised and looking smoother.
SO WHEN SHOULD I USE A SCRUB?
Our skin experts recommend exfoliating 1-2 times a week and combining this with applying a face mask for a weekly skin pamper. Our new Green Mandarin Scrub Mask is perfect for this. It includes 5 different sized, natural exfoliating particles: Argan Shell, Sugar Cane, Sugar Beet, Lemon and Orange Peel that work hard at buffing away dead skin and reviving the skin’s complexion. For those who like getting the most out of a product, the 2 in 1 element is perfect for you. This product is a scrub and mask to allow you to infuse the skin with essential oils of Green mandarin, Sweet Orange and Grapefruit. This protects and treats the skin, leaving it instantly feeling smooth and glowing with radiance, achieving the desired result.
HOW DO CHEMICAL PEELS WORK?
So onto chemical exfoliation and a look into peels. Peels are powerful products originally just used by Doctors and Dermatologists. Now however, we are able to use these more frequently due to lower concentrations which are safe for home use. Working with an enzymatic action to “nibble” away at dead cells, Peels travel further into the skin to help dissolve the cell bonds that are preventing dead skin cells from being removed. Whilst using a chemical peel to exfoliate can improve the texture and clarity of the skin, for some skin types they can be too aggressive.
HOW DO I GET THE BENEFITS?
Decléor’s new Green Mandarin Bi-Phase Overnight Peel is a 28 day cure containing glycolic acid and fruit acids to give a long lasting resurfacing action. Because glycolic acid helps encourage good cellular renewal, it can be used regularly on hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles. The peel also contains essential oils of Green Mandarin, Sweet Orange and Grapefruit known for their powerful anti-oxidant concentration. Botanical oils of Apricot and Marula to nourish and soothe leaving the skin feeling softer, smoother and revitalised. Ultimately, this is a great blend of ingredients for long term glow and renewed skin texture.
Top tips: Don’t forget to wear your SPF during the day when you have applied an overnight peel.
